The amended Finance Bill 2024/2025 was passed. It is true majority didn’t go through it. They waited for their MPs to tell them which side is their Party- Public participation is always for formalities since we found ourselves having such a page in History and Government secondary school syllabus books under the topic: the Bill Process.”
The Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung’u took more than two hours reading the bill. I’m sure even those who loved seeing his suit and him drinking water from his glass occasionally, got tired of one image and switched off their television or play games with their remotes. As others perhaps didn’t care listening or watching the show as they had taken side already: Ruto’s Bill vs Wananchi’s will.
Just to mention but a few; Big blow to
1. Cigarette smokers
2. Alcohol addicts
3. Betting
4. Transaction costs
When you look at the above, they are not ‘Basic Needs’. They are ‘Human wants,’ with only transaction costs being a unifying factor to all common mwanachi.
One of the development theories and laws state that; “A developing country should try by all means to pull itself out from the burdens of loans, and over dependence on the developed countries and focus on its own ways to raise revenue, fight poverty, drought, hunger and achieve agricultural sustainability”. This should be our focus.
Just to mention but a few; it is a win to:
1. Education
2. Agriculture
3. Cement factories
4. Elders and disabled
5. Youths and women
These are the pillars of development, sustainability and inclusivity.
I hope and I’m confident that Dr David Ndii can’t be that mad to draw the plan, strategize on its goal and later proceed to bury the plan after it’s premature birth.
FACTS
1. Mps , Governors and MCAs will start capitalizing on the illiterate majority and don’t care elites of the society who are very okay as long as the poverty is not story telling with them at night. These Feeders (you call them leaders) are going to continue with the chorus of the day; “Ruto hajatuma pesa, My work is overseeing and legislation. Public participation. Vote six piece, development Baba ataleta…” and so many tunes sweet on the ear of tax payer who hate the government with passion
2. Marginalized communities like Samburu, and our brothers in poverty and drought stricken counties like Turkana, will be living on the mercies of humanitarians yet billions of money to fully end their disparities will be tabled as their Feeders plan on power sharing deals and how to change and promote their eating positions.
3. How will Youths benefit?
We all know their “glorious” moments are waiting for them in two years time. This doesn’t need further explanation. It is self explanatory. That’s the moment they’ll fight, kill, destroy and later be blamed and called an agenda.
We’ve had a lot of financial budgets. Right from the three late Presidents, one former president and now the second budget from the current president. Agree with me that whether passed or shutdown, whether the budget is a paradise in waiting or a promised hell, we will survive and live to see more budgets being read. If only our feeders Will focus on how we can capitalize on agriculture, assist our struggling learners to settle their fee balances after the games of cat and rat played by poor parents at school.Create opportunities by having good political will(cos that’s what is the problem) and lastly, Allow power to be dynamic…. We will just like other countries; Singapore, and communities like IGBO , have our own small paradise in our villages and country Kenya.
